1. GETTING THE CORRECT SIZE
2. CHECK THINGS WHILE IN A "STANCE!"
A typical error is the "complaint" that the
A/C is not protecting the goalie in the collar bone area (see pic 1). The problem is that in this picture, the goalie is not in a "stance position". He is standing straight up! Therefore the open, unprotected space shown in this area. However, if you see pic 2, you will notice the goalie is properly protected. This is because he is now bent over in a "stance position" and therefore causes the A/C to rise up to protect this area.
It is important to keep in mind that an
"A/C" (arm and chest protector), has a lot of room for adjustment, meaning that finding a proper fit is quite easy. Because the arms can be adjusted upwards and downwards, finding a "perfect fit" is possible for a longer period of time than some of the other equipment. Check the tag inside the A/C for a good starting point. Here you will find info about the height of the goalie it was intended for.
If the manufacturer designed the A/C to cover this area while in a "standing up" position, this would give the goalie serious movement and vision problems when actually playing the game. Be sure to buy a separate, "throat protector" for proper protection of this area.
Therefore, to ensure a properly fitted and good protecting A/C, always be sure to check things WHILE THE GOALIE IS IN A "STANCE POSITION."
